We hope you all had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I recently read a phenomenal article featuring 3 of the top investors in the world. Warren Buffett, Naval Ravikant, and Ray Dalio each gave their top investing advice. It just reiterated how we manage money here at Bevilacqua Associates. This is exactly how we run our practice.
1. “Invest in what you understand.” Naval’s rule: Complexity kills returns. Instead:
• Avoid chasing trends or obscure markets.
• Simplicity wins in the long run.
2. “Diversify intelligently.” Dalio’s advice: True diversification is about balance.
• Own uncorrelated assets.
• A well-balanced portfolio reduces risk without sacrificing returns.
3. “Inflation is a hidden tax.” Buffet warns: Holding cash is risky in the long term.
• Invest in assets that grow faster than inflation.
• Avoid long-term cash savings. Make your money work for you, not against you.
4. “Compounding is the 8th wonder of the world.” Buffett’s golden rule: Let time do the heavy lifting.
• Reinvest your gains.
• Be patient—compounding accelerates wealth over decades.
5. “Markets are manic. Be rational.” Buffett’s wisdom: The market is driven by emotions.
• Ignore daily price swings.
• Focus on the long-term value of your investments.
• Use downturns as buying opportunities.
6. “Patience is profitable.” Dalio’s advice: Don’t rush decisions.
• Great investments take time to mature.
• Avoid the trap of quick wins—focus on sustainable gains.
• Time in the market beats timing the market.
These strategies aren’t about chasing quick gains. They’re about building enduring wealth through discipline and patience. Stay consistent. Think long-term!
On a personal note, we had a fantastic Christmas. It was so nice having Nick home, even if it was only for a week. He got his first semester grades, and he got a 3.7 GPA at Bentley. I couldn’t believe it. The team is doing great, sitting in first place and they just played the # 4 team in the country, University of Maine, in Maine in front of 6,000 people and beat them 4-2. It was absolutely awesome. Lexi had a great time on her winter break and enjoyed spending time with her friends. So far, she is 8 for 8 with college acceptance and her latest was Fairfield University, one of her top choices. She should hear from the last 4 schools this month. I am so proud of them both.
